Student Video #2 Unit S Concept 7 - Solving Equations w/ Half-Angle Formulas

This video is about solving equations by replacing them with Half-Angle formulas and such. The whole goal of this concept is to find out how to solve for x. We mainly use the zpp to find our answers. In this concept we have to remember our identities from Unit Q to replace, and figure out our answers.
What the viewer must pay attention to is factoring and combining terms. When combining terms we cannot combine something with a power to one without a power. For ex: cos^2 cannot combine with cos.

Student Problem (Assessment #2)

I know that these answers are the same and equivalent to each other because first of all, they look identical, and secondly, if they were not to be identical, we can plug them into a calculator and compare the exact values.

Student Video #1 Unit S Concept 3 - Power Reducing Formulas

This problem is about using power reducing formulas. What we do in this concept is substitute a given trig function with a power reducing formula to create a whole new equation. In the new equation, we will create a reduced formula. In the reduced formula, the highest power should be to the first power. If it is not, we keep reducing until we do so.
When watching this video, make sure that we reduce the equation fully. Also make sure to foil correctly. When foiling, multiplying the same trig function with itself, ADDS the exponents. Some make the mistake of actually multiplying them which is not correct so be careful. Also make sure to reduce it fully before giving the final answer.
